Privacy Policy
Last updated July 9, 2026
This Privacy Notice for RF MarineElectrics ('we', 'us', or 'our') explains how we collect, use, store, and share information when you use our mobile applications and related services, including Heating Monitor 32 and Boat Monitor 32 (the 'Services').
If you do not agree with this Privacy Notice, please do not use the Services. If you have questions, contact us at rfmarineelectrics@gmail.com.
Summary
We collect account and contact details such as email addresses, user identifiers, and alert contact details you provide.
Boat Monitor 32 processes boat/device data such as sensor readings, GPS/location data, device identifiers, configuration, alert settings, notification tokens, graph/history data, and diagnostic information needed to provide monitoring and alerts.
Location data may come from the monitored boat/device hardware. The mobile app itself only accesses your phone or tablet location if you grant permission for a feature that requires it.
If you use Boat Assistant, your question and relevant boat/device data may be processed by our backend and by our AI service provider to interpret the question and produce an answer.
We use service providers such as cloud hosting, database, authentication, push notification, mapping, communications, and AI processing providers to operate the Services.
We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
You may contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of personal information, subject to applicable law and technical/legal limits.
1. Information We Collect
The information we collect depends on the products and features you use.
Account and contact information
Email address, display name, Firebase/user ID, and authentication identifiers.
Phone numbers and email addresses added for alert delivery, where you choose to provide them.
Messages or support requests you send to us.
Boat, device, and sensor data
Boat or device IDs, names, fleet/device access settings, device configuration, and alert configuration.
Sensor readings such as digital inputs, analogue inputs, battery voltage, temperature, humidity, pressure, pitch, roll, GPS, Victron, Truma, BLE, output state, and similar monitoring data depending on the installed hardware and configuration.
GPS/location data reported by the monitored boat/device, where the device is configured to provide it.
Where the mobile app requests access to your phone or tablet location, it will do so only for features that require that permission and only where you grant permission through your device settings.
Graph/history data, live readings, recent alarms, offline/online status, command status, and diagnostic/debug information needed to provide monitoring, graphing, alerts, support, and remote configuration.
Notification tokens and metadata used to send push notifications to authorised devices.
Application and technical data
App version, platform, device type, push notification permission/status, crash or diagnostic information, and similar technical information needed to operate and troubleshoot the app.
Local app data stored on your device, such as cached graph data and preferences, to improve performance and offline use.
Information processed by Boat Assistant
If Boat Assistant is enabled for a subscribed/alert-enabled device and you choose to use it, we process your question together with relevant boat/device data, such as available sensor names, recent readings, and calculated historical summaries. This is used to interpret your question and generate an answer.
Sensitive information
We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information such as racial or ethnic origin, religious beliefs, biometric identifiers, health records, or precise personal characteristics. Boat/device data may include location and safety-related telemetry from your boat or monitored equipment. Where location data is considered sensitive personal information under applicable law, we use it only to provide the requested monitoring, alerting, mapping, history, support, and safety-related features, and not to infer personal characteristics about you.
2. How We Use Information
We use information to:
Provide, maintain, and secure the Services.
Display live readings, graphs, history, diagnostics, and fleet/device information.
Send push notifications, email alerts, and/or voice/SMS alerts where configured. Push notifications are used to deliver alarms, status changes, offline/online alerts, and other monitoring notifications.
Enable device access, fleet access, remote configuration, manual control, and command status where available.
Provide Boat Assistant answers and suggested questions based on recorded boat/device data.
Troubleshoot faults, investigate support requests, prevent abuse, and improve reliability.
Comply with legal obligations and protect rights, safety, and security.
Subscriptions and billing
Some features of the Services may require a paid subscription or paid alerting service. Subscription management and billing are handled directly by RF MarineElectrics and not through the Apple App Store or Google Play at this time. We do not collect or store payment card information within the Services.
3. Boat Assistant and AI Processing
Boat Assistant is an optional feature available only for devices where the relevant subscription/alerting feature is enabled. It helps answer questions about recorded boat/device data.
When you use Boat Assistant, your question and a limited set of relevant boat/device information may be sent to our backend and to our AI service provider, currently OpenAI or another equivalent AI processing provider, to interpret the question and produce a response. We aim to send only the minimum information reasonably required for the request, such as metric names, query plans, recent values, and calculated summaries.
Boat Assistant answers are informational and may be incomplete or inaccurate. They are based on available recorded data and should not be relied on as the sole basis for safety-critical decisions. Always use installed alarms, inspections, professional judgment, and direct checks of the vessel/equipment where safety is involved.
We do not use Boat Assistant to make legal, financial, medical, or similarly significant automated decisions about you.
4. Legal Bases for Processing
Where UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies, we rely on one or more of the following legal bases:
Contract: to provide the app, monitoring, alerts, subscriptions, support, and related Services you request.
Consent: where you choose to enable optional features such as push notifications, phone/tablet location permissions, or AI assistant questions.
Legitimate interests: to secure, maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the Services, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights.
Legal obligations and vital interests: where necessary to comply with law or protect safety.
5. When and With Whom We Share Information
We do not sell personal information. We may share information with service providers that help us operate the Services, subject to appropriate contractual, technical, and organisational safeguards. These may include:
Cloud hosting, database, storage, authentication, and backend infrastructure providers, including Google Firebase/Google Cloud. Information about Google's privacy practices is available at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
Push notification providers, including Firebase Cloud Messaging and Apple Push Notification service.
Communications providers used for configured alert delivery, such as email, voice call, or SMS providers where applicable.
AI processing providers, currently OpenAI or another equivalent AI processing provider, when you use Boat Assistant.
Mapping or platform services where required by app features.
Professional advisers, authorities, or law enforcement where required by law or necessary to protect rights, safety, or security.
A successor organisation in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganisation, or sale of assets.
Service providers may process data on our behalf only for the purposes of providing the Services or supporting our operations, unless otherwise permitted by law and their applicable terms.
6. International Transfers
Our service providers may process information in the United Kingdom, European Economic Area, United States, or other countries. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers, such as contractual protections, adequacy decisions, standard contractual clauses, data processing agreements, or other lawful transfer mechanisms.
7. Retention
We keep information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Notice, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law. Retention periods may vary by data type and feature.
Account, fleet, device, and alert configuration may be retained while the account/device remains active or as needed for support and legal records.
Graph/history and diagnostic data may be retained for limited operational periods depending on the feature, data volume, and system settings.
Notification tokens may be updated or removed when no longer active, stale, disabled, or associated with authorised users.
Backups and logs may persist for a limited period before deletion or overwriting.
When we no longer have an ongoing legitimate need to process information, we will delete, anonymise, or securely isolate it where deletion is not immediately possible.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect information. These may include authenticated access, access controls, encrypted communications where supported, cloud security controls, monitoring, and operational safeguards appropriate to the nature of the Services. However, no electronic transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You should use the Services only within a secure environment and protect your account credentials and devices.
9. Your Choices and Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to processing, receive a copy of, or withdraw consent for certain personal information. You can contact us at rfmarineelectrics@gmail.com to exercise these rights.
You can also control certain features directly in the app or your device settings, such as push notifications and device location permissions. Removing alert contact details or disabling features may affect alert delivery and app functionality.
If you believe we have not handled your personal information correctly, you may have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) or with your local data protection supervisory authority if you are located in the European Economic Area.
RF MarineElectrics has not appointed a Data Protection Officer because we do not believe one is required under applicable law. Privacy enquiries should be sent to rfmarineelectrics@gmail.com.

California privacy rights
California residents may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, opt out of sale or sharing, limit certain uses of sensitive personal information, and not be discriminated against for exercising privacy rights.
